On October 9, 2024, Private Financial Group (PFG), Landscape Effects Group (LFX) and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Windsor-Essex are hosting a pivotal event focused on men's mental health.
To be held at the Serbian Centre in Windsor, it’s an initiative that PFG’s Peter Dobrich wanted to deploy, with an aim to break down the stigma surrounding men’s mental health, and to raise essential funds for local mental health programs.
The evening will feature Corey Hirsch, an Olympic silver medalist, former NHL goaltender, and vocal mental health advocate, sharing his journey from professional sports to mental health champion. Dobrich, alongside LFX founder Paul St. Pierre, are both passionate about community well-being, and by hosting the event are emphasizing the importance of creating a space where attendees can engage in open and meaningful conversations about mental health.
Statistics prove the urgency of this conversation: men account for over 75% of suicides in Canada, with Canadian men three times more likely to face addiction and substance abuse issues than women. By bringing Corey Hirsch to Windsor, PFG and CMHA hope to inspire change by connecting the community, while also bringing to light the necessity of mental health resources.
The event is a precursor to further activities on October 10, including a High School Huddle and the LFX Team Exchange.
Tickets for the event are a tax-deductible donation of $25, with proceeds supporting local mental health initiatives.
